Primary Years

  • Primary Years
Our IB programs redefine education, encouraging learning through play.

The Early Years section takes students aged two-and-a-half to five, in a structure that meets all their needs, from physical and emotional growth to learning, in a quiet and pleasant environment, avant-garde and eco-sustainable.

The classes are in English and are divided into three phases:

  • Pre-Kindergarten (till the age of 3 years).
  • Kindergarten (aged 3 to 4).
  • Transition (aged 4 to 5).

For our students, curiosity is king. Guided research and individual investigation help young minds explore new cultures, revealing the world and all its wonders.

From the Early Years section till the age of 11, students at the International School of Milan follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP), a programme based on inquiry and which places the child at the centre of the learning process, enabling him/her to acquire all the concepts proposed.

In an active and stimulating study environment, our students face up to significant themes and subjects. They are encouraged to act, applying what they study and learn, even outside the school, in their daily activities.

The PYP Curriculum contains 3 key components, which explain students’ learning, the teaching principles and the assessment of the entire programme.

The classrooms of the IS Milan Campus all have a contemporary design, interactive boards, WIFI, luminous spaces for study and games, large windows and glass doors opening directly onto the common areas. Very large classrooms are dedicated to the Pre-K and Kindergarten sections, with zones dedicated to rest and washroom facilities reserved for the children, directly accessible from the classrooms.

Please visit the dedicated section for the complete Curriculum Guides.

The Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate prepares students to face the challenges of the future. It concentrates on developing the whole student, inside and outside the classroom.
